ZDoom Wars I v2.4t

Just backporting a few balance and bug fixes from 2.5 as a favor.

-Fixed Virus’ flying.

-Bullet based monsters are a lot more aggressive in TLMS due to DesignatedTeam. In an attempt to curb this, globally all the bullet monsters in TLMS do -2 damage from their normal counterparts.

-Reaver: Team Reavers didn’t have the damagefix for their projectiles and still took off 40hp a shot.

-Repair Drone: Not really a bug, but they’ve not been broken for a long while. Finally got around to reverting the message.

-Common Flemoid: Increased attack speed by 2 tics for both normal and upgraded types.

-Bipedal: Attack speed increased by 1 tic.

-Spectre A: Now Spectre A does 1/2 damage to players.

Now it’s time for me to go back to being “disconnected from the community.” Give me a fucking break.

So take note of this and get your gripes & moaning out now because you still have time to possibly change my opinion before release. ZDWars One is now aiming for quality over quantity so things are changing to live up to that tired old mantra. Besides you gotta admit that the novelty of older maps and my butchered versions of preexisting maps has long been worn out. This is a welcomed change here. If you don’t agree with this then play an older map pack. Hell I used to play 204s map pack when Ventris cut the old Greater Crucible so I don’t see why you guys can’t do the same. That’s pretty much it.

As a side note, Zandronum really has some fantastic ways of handling monsters now to reduce bandwidth usage. The server I had up last night with a lot of randomized chaos with 4 players was idling smoothly and didn’t jump above 110kb once. Really excited to see the first widespread release!

The Map Pack + Music Pack Notes

As we all know the map pack is long overdue for a huge update. Compared to how the rest of the game is now, the maps are the only things that ‘feel’ loose and outdated which is both a good and bad thing. Unfortunately since there hasn’t been anyone around to give the maps legitimate updates I’m afraid that means I have to. You’ve already seen the work I’m capable of when I map. It ain’t pretty. This also means several maps are going to be cut from the pack, but at the same time several others will receive some edits/revamps. Here’s a tentative list of what’s going to be in for 2.5:

As you can see the original 24 maps haven’t been altered from their numerical scheme, but the later ones that have been added since are all rearranged and not like they were before. It’ll take some getting used to, but I’m sure everyone will be accepting to it eventually. I’ll even make key for toggling a maplist until you can get used to what maps are what.

Now regarding the maps that are getting edited, I’m not going to say which ones or how so. It should be obvious based on how some of these maps play and how often they’re played. That’s all you need to know really.

For the music pack, I’m making it entirely optional like it SHOULD HAVE BEEN. Every single map will now have a MIDI or low res song already playing without loading the music pk3. If you want the higher quality songs, take the pk3 and place it in your skins folder and presto! You now have the mp3 songs like before. This was done to make your life easier, but I have a feeling this will not be that well received. Oh well!

I’m fully expecting a lot of flack for the map and music pack upon release.
